You have a threshold based on metal that is called GEN for General search mode. It is followed by Di2, and that's the letter I standing for discrimination two tone and that will break at the ferrous non-ferrous breakpoint to give you a low tone for iron targets and a high tone for non-iron. This is a vco enhanced mode.
Next you have Di3 and that is a discrimination three tone mode with processed audio. It is a little less sensitive than the two-tone mode
Next you have COG which stands for conductive ground better known as a beach mode to handle the low conductivity wet salt conditions.
So there are four modes, but not a four tone mode. Just put in the search time with it using the small coil, take your time, sweet slowly and methodically and overlap, and I'm sure you will come to like that detector.
