Hello fellow Nokta/Makro enthusiasts! I just purchased a Racer 2 from eBay and it came with a few goodies. I’m excited to get my hands on it and play with it some. I’m looking for helpful “do’s and dont’s” of this machine. Especially from those who use it frequently. I’m sure I’ll figure it out just by playing with it but I’d like some info to get me on the fast track. Thanks in advance!

I was hoping Monte would get to this but I'll give ya my input.

I primarily only use 3 tone as I hunt old sites loaded with trash iron etc. Here are my settings. You can use them as a starting point and adust from there if ya want.

Mode 3 tone
Gain 85
Id Filter 3
Notch N.A.
Iron Audio 1 or 2 ( just enough to hear the iron)
Tone break 10 & 64 ( as Monte taught me I lower the tone break down to 64 so most all Indian head pennies will fall in the high tone)
Audio Tone.....this is user preference ( what sounds best for you) Mine are set at 10, 30 & 70

Any tips: Its a high gain machine. To get the best performance and create less headaches, sweep the coil approx 1 1/2" off the ground........don't scrub the coil.

Anyhow its a good example of a machine that can provide performance and simplicity at the same time. As you get more time in with the Racer 2, I think you will come to appreciate what it can do in some of the sites we try to tackle with a detector smiling smiley
