Yup Monte I agree 100% on the coil ear placement. Its a head scratcher. The Equinox 6" coil looks great mounted in the center. Some of the stuff these manufacturers do makes you wonder if they have anyone on the team that actually uses the equipment? They need regular everyday users on the engineering team.

Very true when it comes to some physical package designs manufacturers can came up with. The 6" DD on th4e EQ-800 I had looked better and felt fine. It's kind of a mental thing for some of us.

Oh speaking of F75s I found a good deal on a f75+ with a nel 9x5 sharpshooter coil. All I can say is wow! The ID on it is super tight and it is not bothered by EMI. Forgot how much I liked this machine. Trigger pinpoint and GB. Easy menu with giant numbers. Weight and balance is great swings like a dream.

Yep, very little EMI issues with the F75+, especially with DST 'On'. And I favor a trigger-activated PP & GB, too. One nice feature with the F75+ is that if you're working a site so terribly littered with trash that it's hard to find a place to do the Automated GB, you can maybe find one area or a very mineralized rock comparable to the dirt make-up, and GB to that. Then, even if you turn the detector off for a lunch break, when it is turned back on it has held your last settings, including the GB! I like that feature. In my area I have a couple of small areas with a lot of iron nails I have been working and I know the local ground phase so I simply adjust to that GB and leave my F75+ GB alone at those two places. Works great.

I keep the 3½X6½ Concentric mounted for the busier areas, and I am trying to decide on a mid-size coil. I like the NEL Sharpshooter, but do not have one. However, I do have the MGC 5X8 which is a solid-body design. Maybe a tough heavy but it works great with a very tight VDI read-out. Since I ale4eaqedy have it I might just hang onto it as my 'mi-size, especially since most of my F75+ work is likely to be with the skinny Concentric coil. Glad you are enjoying the F75+. A good unit to be in anyone's outfit.

Took a couple close up pics of the legends 6" coil. If you break these coil ears your definitely doing something wrong lol. They also have the square washer insert like the simplex.

True, their original coil ears had some weakness in design, but most everything they make today, physically, is very durable.
