Monte,
I'm glad that Nokta is involved with their Legend. I've updated my 800 a few times since I bought it 4+ years ago. Each time Minelab documented the update. I'm quite pleased with the updates and have a lot of hours on it.
I update my cell phone on a regular basis as well as the applications on it. I update my computers. My gold wing has an update I need to run. My TV's and blu-ray player get updates. I study and learn new things myself so you could say I'm getting updates. Our cars can be updated. Many electronic items are now computer driven, even my washer/dryer, dish washer and refrigerator.
I do have a few electronic items that are stand alone like my Fluke Multi meter, a laser range for golf, an older Tesoro Bandido and Whites Surf PI DF that are old circuit board designs, but even my Whites Eagle (which I sold decades ago) had a ROM chip that could be replaced with new latest greatest to enhance performance. My Citizen watch is analog display, but is solar powered. Many folks have doorbells on their house that include a camera with a motion sensor so they can see who's coming to the door, even when they aren't home.
Continuing our learning and education is key. We never stop learning.
Rich
