Nokta / Makro, for the most part, build very solid metal detectors. Additionally, they have a presence on "social media" that no other detector maker has, and they tend to listen to their customers ... to a point

As for their models, I have owned several of their FORS CoRe and several FORS Relic models and they are very solid, sturdy and dependable. They work fine without any glitches. Their performance matches or exceeds the models folks consider to be their competition.

Now for the Makro Racer and Racer 2. I have owned no fewer than six of each and when they are working they can do well. However, all of mine have had one or more issues. I currently have a very clean Racer 2 that can not have the Sensitivity increased over '79' in All Metal or 2-Tone or any mode other than 3-Tone and Beach. To do so you get the annoying Overload audio. The only fix is to replace the circuit board(s).

I bought a new Racer and right out of the box a similar issue, except only 3-Tone and Beach can be adjusted over '74'. The messed up modes go into Overload if I go to '75'. Again it calls for circuit board replacement, if the new boards do not have the same issue.

I liked the Impact but didn't care for the Multi-Kruzer. I liked the Anfibio more but still not as well as the Simplex+. But while I like the Simplex +, I didn't like the fact they didn't make a 7" Concentric or 5" DD coils for it and many others feel the same.

Some detector models get an update but usually it is for one or two things and it doesn't mess up other features or performance. We haven't seen that with the Legend.

Garrett made their first SMF with the Apex and it wasn't designed to compete with any specific model or offer what they did. It is light and very well balanced, gets good depth and makes a great mid-priced entry into the SMF market.

That is all N/M had to do, but they didn't and now updates and problems are what consumers are dealing with. My 'opinions' are the same but with all the glitches and updates it does make me lose a bit of interest in them .. except for the models I own that work great!

All the videos, comments, forum posts, etc. that I have been following on the Legend has actually increased my interest in the Equinox 800.
