I agree with you---Nokta/Makro does listen to their customers.....to a point.--------I think they really are trying to make the Legend the detector that (most) are wanting.------It's actually kind of sad though that they brought it to market so early on what with needing all these updates.-------I'm sure it has "killed" the interest many people had in it (early on)---I know it has for me---sounds like it has for you to.-------Also agree with you about increasing interest in the Equinox 800 (because of this).-----I've had both of these detectors though & I'm not interested in acquiring another one of either (for several reasons).-------Anyway---I sincerely hope that Makro can end up with a Legend that most people are happy with.----Nobody should want to see a company fail in their efforts.----------Del
No, I don't want to see them have a problem more than what they have encountered already. But thanks to the internet everyone gets to hear about all the glitches before an update, after an update and attributed to the update, and then hope another update, or two or three, will take care of all the problems. The configuration and balance were fine, but the problems turned me off. Besides, I am not a water hunter and do not care for all the waterproof detectors which they felt is the way of the future. IF for some reason I wanted a waterproof detector, it would be the Simplex +.
And there are a lot of Simplex + units out there and working well. I wish Nokta / Makro would just devote a little time to make a small 5" coil and a 7" Concentric for the Simplex+. They have the coil designs and there isn't a doubt in my mind consumers would snap them up quickly!
Then, fix the glitches the Racer and Racer 2 had and find a decent housing to make a new land-based model again, like a Racer 2 but in a different and better-balanced package. Even the Vanquish design would work with 4 AA batteries, or put it in something like the Garrett Apex.
And I will give Garrett credit for the Apex. No All Metal mode, not a lot of excess adjustment functions, but just a simple and very functional SMF with selectable Single-Frequencies and in a very comfortable package. Balances and handles quite well. Not a copy of anyone else but a stand-alone SMF offering in a mid-price to appeal to a lot of hobbyists. And designed to handle a salt water beach just fine. Honestly, that was what I was hoping to see from N/M to have THEIR model and not try to challenge the other guy.
Oh well, in two months I'll be in Nevada and have a few detectors for those sites but my Nokta Relic is at the ready w/5" DD coil. The only 'update' is that I will install a fresh set of rechargeable NiMH batteries.
