As for the FORS Relic. They worked up a pretty good unit, and when we were 'testers' to evaluate the prototype we agreed there were a couple of things to address. We shared that info with Dilek. She got it to the design engineer and Alper made new control housings with our adjustment and setting suggestions. They sent them to us and we agreed that all was fine and
THEN they brought out the Relic to consumers. Not before.
Another thing I related was the number of detector models I have seen or known about from many manufacturers that were rushed-to-market before they were ready. Some kind of worked, but even when I was at Compass they sent some out and I stopped production because most would not respond to a Half-Dollar or big Silver Dollar. Hurried into production because times were tough and / or they felt they needed to get something out to compete with one or two other manufacturers. In this case, we knew The Legend was intended to go after the Minelab Equinox 800 at a better price, and they had it out to 'testers', but it seems too many testers didn't really use it and hunt with it to find the strengths and weaknesses, and there were some. Thus, the info wasn't conveyed to Nokta / Makro to make it right, and even on the manufacturer's part they failed to offer it with some of the features of the Equinox, such as Iron Bias.
So it wasn't a complete and thought-out unit plus the so-called 'testers' didn't get useful info to N/M to maker it right. Plus, it really wasn't ready for market and that is obvious from all the glitches and updates and problems from updates, so it was "rushed-to-market".
IF I would have received a 'test' prototype Legend I would have put in the time and effort to find all the goods and bads I could and convey that to N/M. The fact I didn't receive a prototyped 'test' unit has nothing to do with my opinions and feelings. I was supposed to or told I would get one but I didn't. Okay, fine. That happens. But I still had an interest in the Legend and that's why I went through you to order one as a Pro Pack to have the 6" coil. I wouldn't have got on the list if my feelings were hurt because I like N/M's solid build and I like the CoRe and Relic and Impact and Simplex +.
I was really interested in one and hoped to test one or if not get one. But things in life change and I cancelled the order due to $$$$ and preparing to move plus some expenses that came up to fix the place I was selling. Also, health issues I have been dealing with and now I am at the point I can't drive, my vision is struggling, and I am working hard to get enough maneuverability with a cane again again to detect a little. I have what I need and am actually going to be selling off my personal detectors, as I am near the end of being able to get out hunting.
Oh, one other thing, I did get some e-mail info from a tester or two who let me know they felt the Legend had some problems and that also made me want to hold off. Health just got worse.
I am not 'bashing' the Legend, just pointing out that in this modern era with social media, we have a lot of fast reports of good and bad performance and the bad seems to be most talked about. I do hope they get things worked out so they will have a worthy unit to compete with the EQ-800. But it is going to take more time.
