First, OregonGregg is correct, the FORS CoRe is one of the better general purpose detectors you could own.
Second, there will be times and places to use any coil based upon what type of hunting you want to do and sites you search. For me, the over-sizr coil was basically a big paperweight.
The standard 7X11 DD coil was fine for urban open area hunting, beach work, etc. Fine for a lot of open grassy area Coin Hunting and sk forth.
But I like to spend a lot of time Relic Huntjbg old sites with dense brush, building rubble and other ferrous debris. For that, I prefer smaller-size coils like the
'OOR' DD and that coil stayed mounted to my CoRe for all but 2 hours of detecting right after I got it.
If you get into some dense trash just work that coil slowly and methodically to find the hidden and partially-masked keepers. I am not alone. Gregg and others know how well that detector and coil can perform.
If there is any way, I would hope to see the two of you, Jeff and the CoRe, at our 15th WTHO out of Wells, NV this Sept 3rd thru 11th. Our group Get-Together Dinner on Saturday the 10th will be fun and we will get to see a lot of finds folks will share.
By the way, after all the Outings we have had at those ghost towns, a lot of nice finds have been made by many attendees, but you can always figure OregonGregg and the CoRe will often make many of the desirable recoveries.
I plan to be there, checking into Motel 6 on the 2nd and hopefully gain a bit of strength and get-around ability to do some hunting myself. Working on getting better and hope to be out of the hospital by Monday or Tuesday. Detectors and coils are ready to go and time is growing short!
