See, now Zincoln, UtahRich, Kickndirt, Del and many others need to read this as it's finally in print and confirmed.
But as for the Fors CoRe a lot of people have asked me over the last few years about the machine and I generally steer them away. Not because it's a bad machine, it isn't. But for a lot of the types of detecting they do, more general purpose, I say there are a lot of nice machines available that will offer more features and give you great performance.
I pretty much hunt one kind of environment 99.999% of the time and that is old ghost town sites with lots of iron and rusted tin etc. That is where I really enjoy the Fors Core and the small ( oor coil) and its ability to unmask. Even today ( my opinion) Nokta hasn't made a newer machine that can unmask better than a CoRe. A lot of what I found could have been found with other machines. There are a few finds that stand out and give credit to the CoRe and oor coil for being able to sniff them out ( unmask) The 1860s quarter, the Trime and the Ohio State button to name a few that were just plain difficult targets but the CoRe with the small coil and very slow small sweeps sniffed them out.
I'll be the first to hype up the Core and also the first to point out some of its shortcomings the main one being no Iron Audio Vol. If it had that it would be my " Perfect" machine. Over time I just got used to hearing all of it at full volume as I run my disc very low ( 10 ). Today hearing it just seems normal. I have tried my ol' Whites Classic machines ( silent search) and the quietness drives me crazy...
I have just got so use to using the Core and it's sounds and nuisances have become 2nd nature. When they discontinued the Core I started stocking up on extra machines and coils. Prob be my main use machine for the next decade or two, if I make it that long.
The Core will always be a machine that will compiment what you have. It has some certain strengths. God forbid should I fall down and hit my head on a rock and decide to detect parks, tot lots etc I might actually look at some of the other machines out there such as the D2 or Nox.......but until that day comes and I do damage my noggin, you will prob see me swing the ol'CoRe or a Racer 2 at times.
