Where to set that Discriminator ? ? ?

I'm surprised that gold ring came in that low that's pretty low isn't it on the ID scale? That's about where most similar-size and percentage of gold will fall on the numeric VDI range. That's why we don't want to use too much Discrimination or we stand the chance or loosing (rejecting) good jewelry items. Monte

Monte is exactly right. I have to be careful where I set that discriminator.

How did I decide on where to set my discriminator (ID Filter) on my Racer 2 ?

I tested all my gold bands, taking note of the thinnest women's bands, and gave myself some good wiggle room below that. The gold ring above is rather small but came in the high 20's. I am happy with the results and learned some things as I move forward to my next 'water' hunt.

BTW, I picked up another ring at a park last week, They seem to be showing up more frequently as I pay attention to that area below zinc penny down into the foil range.

Gold jewelry can span quite a range of conductivities.

There is a lot of missed gold jewelry out there.
