I probably have too many metal detectors as can be seen in my signature below, I really like the analog machines. The digital MX5 and MX7 cannot hunt the iron infested sites as well as my Tesoros. The MX5 using these settings come close to Tesoro performance...Coin mode, 1 tone, Disc. set with first 3 iron segments notched out, Sens. set at 8 bars, Thres. set at just audible and Volume set at max. The lack of track lock does not matter in my ground.
The MX7 does well in the iron with these settings: Coin & Jewelry, 2 tone, Disc. set at -10 to +95 accept, Sens. set anywhere from 00 to 8 because the MX7 is more sensitive to EMI than the MX5. RejVol set to 20 because I like to hear the iron. I use the 6½" coil on both detectors. The MX7 is a little better than the MX5 in the iron, coming real close to Tesoro performance.
