I really like the XL Pro. I usually use an 8", or the 6" Bullseye coil.
Have you ever tried the 4" Sniper coil on it? I have one on an IDX that I use along fence lines, but have never mounted it up on the XL.

My XL is not stable when I turn the sig balance past pre set. I cannot get a consistent threshold. I just sent it in to Sweet Home, where they replaced the sig balance and tuner pots, but that did not improve it.

I never thought to run it in auto trak for a bit before locking it in. Wonder if that may help stability, and get more depth??

My Reply to scottwyl...

I haven't used the 4" 350 BlueMax 'snooper' coil on mine, the 6½" Black 5.3 Max is my main coil.

I found out through trial and error that by using the Auto Trac® for a while then 'lock' it...that is why it seems to work with the higher Signal Balance setting.+

Edit to say:I think that by using Auto Trac® for a while before locking it..the Auto Trac® has time to sample ground minerals and adjust, this I believe is why it allows a higher Signal Balance setting. Thus getting better depth and stability. JMHO

Wayfarer, a little added comment about 'Fold-Over' and Signal Balance.

If you have the 6000 Pro XL / XL Pro Instruction Manual, refer to this.

Two very good models you've added, and a wise decision.
