Segmented Target ID's - Thoughts of the 90's

Hi Monte,

As you mention the IDX series, it brought back some memories from the 90's. I always thought of the IDX series, with the 'segmented' target ID, to be Whites' answer to the Fisher CZ series. The CZ had the 6 categories; Iron / Foil / Nickel / Tab / Zn / Coin. The IDX followed with 8 segments; Nail / Foil / Nickel / Tab / Zinc / Penny-Dime / Quarter / 50¢ - $1.

Tesoro had the 2-tones going on with the Royal Sabre, which I believe was the beginning of adjustable breaks, rather than assigned 'segmets' of the conductivity scale like the CZ and the IDX that followed.

Do I have my dates correct. ? Been a long time.

I'm surprised I somehow overlooked the 'IDX Pro, as I beileve I was swinging my CZ-6a at the time. I always disliked that the detector had such an attraction to DEEP rusty nails AND I was never a fan of the bundling of all coins into the 1 category. I like that White's separated the zinc, penny/dime, quarter and halves.
