Brian,

I'd like to think that more often than not, you and your pair of White's detectors set the pace that I try to keep up with. thumbs up

You know Tony, my story is about the same. Just got back into it in 2012, with Monte's help and wealth of experience.

I'll say this. I use their high end and mainstream models, and i seem to keep pace with all the other machines on the market, year in and year out. Not bragging, just my likely skewed opinion. I've posted much of the interesting finds on this site. Schools, yards, parks, ghost towns...they've found goodies in them all. I've stuck with the brand and learned how to get the most out of them.

I'm cautious with web press as it can sink a company, and i don't think im an insider enough to know with certainly just how good or bad their designs are. I am an engineer. Electronics are complex. Been around EEs and complex designs much of my life. I dont get to see their balance sheet, and i dont know the credentials of their engineers. I know their service is great. I've gotten their machines to go 16 for 16 on the nail board. I know i found over an ounce of gold last year, and a number of neat old coins from sites that have had every make and model of machine over them for decades...including many that frequent this site. I think it's easy to get wrapped up on nuances which may not end up making much difference in the field. Kinda like todays 800 HP muscle cars. Does 0-60 a second faster than a 350HP car really matter. Probably only to a purest or die hard fanatic. Nothing wrong with that if that's your thing, but they both get down the highway at 60mph and to their destination at roughly the same time.

I for one would like to see them make it. Not easy for any company to make it for 50 years. They were an American original, and at least as far as i know, much of their hw has continued to be designed and manufactured here. I know some is going offshore, but you would have to look darn hard to find a US company doing it all here in a related field.

I don't enter the detector evangelism dialog much for reasons i just described, but decided tonight to speak kindly of what they do, give them a bit of grace, and thank them for what they continue to allow me to do.

Thanks White's!!!

Brian Walter

Brian, a very kind and considerate write-up.

Stay Tuned??? I did that once. All I got was 'snow' or a bunch of colorful lines and a loud noise. N/T
