Park Silver

June 07, 2020 08:55PM
Headed down for a few hours to my little old local park which was once the site of the community hall. 3 wheats, a 42 nickel and a 54s Quarter. Not often i find more than one older coin.

I had only ever found one silver here in the past, but today I got a solid 91/92 (silver dollar) at >6". Hard pan ballfield with lots of little pebbles. Had to dig it with a screw driver. Funny, after digging a 6" hole, i ran the detector over it and had to work to get a signal. Have noticed this can happen when you create a larger hole - sometimes the signal comes ringing through, and sometimes they don't. Now the signal came in at top of scale at 95. That's almost always deep, big steel. This time it was a deep quarter! I'll take it. Deep silver coins tend to ring in higher on the VDI scale w/ the V3i and 10DD coil, and I think the minerals further shifted it.

Anyway, I'll take silver however it comes!
