Hello Harold,

I think that often the answer would be yes. While i don't specifically recall the screen results after digging countless blobs of foil, most foil is not uniform in shape, and as such, it will frequently show up as squiggly lines or uneven swirls as opposed to nice, straight lines (you will see exceptions on pull tabs and likely those wonderful half dollar sized foil tear offs that are used on drinks and ring up so nicely). In playground, this may be useful. But, earings, broken rings, chains pendants may also show up with something besides nice, clean polar plots. Worth putting items out and running over them to see the results.

I do find it interesting that gold plated brass or silver will typically show in the gold range or be drawn down much lower than the primary metal - which suggests the signal bounces off the surface gold and does not get impacted by the base metal beneath.

I also know that most of the time those melted aluminum blobs that come up so nicely in the quarter range, will not look so clean on the polar plot....and they hit hardest on the higher frequency which is a dead giveaway......until you leave that $20 gold coin in the ground that liked 22.5kHz better. Guess we can't have it all.

BR,
Brian
