El Nino,
Sounds like you've spent a good deal of time with your MXT.
I don't recall when "factory settings" were optimal for my detecting with any of my detectors. As I've spent more and more time with each detector, I become aware of what works better / best in given situations and can adjust the detector according.
This is where some of Monte's preferences for simple and effective detectors come into play. If a detector has near infinite settings adjustments, how do you ever get to know the detector / settings variations well enough to decide which is better / best ?
And the situation is compounded if you have multiple detectors being used.. More detectors in use = less time with each.
Sounds like you've found what works really well with your MXT.
