I think I went to the theater and watched my last good one in about 1990 or 91. Movie theaters got way too expensive long ago to make them enjoyable because the cost just to get in the door took the fun out of it.
Add to that the fact that there are not a lot of really good actors these days like we once had, and most of the movies are just not that interesting or entertaining, at least to me, has so many of the good ones that have been my favorites.
Matter of fact, one of the things I enjoy about being single and having a computer is I can watch a lot of the good, older westerns that I haven't seen in a long long time, or some I've just never seen, that are better and enjoyable. My sleep habits are goofy, so many an evening or late night I'll be at my computer enjoying a good movie with the likes of Randolph Scott, Joel McCrea, Robert Mitchum, James Stewart, John Wayne, Alan Ladd, Kirk Douglas, Clark Gable, or a lot of the short movies with Tom Mix, William Cassidy, and many many more.
Besides, I especially enjoy some of those old, early Black and Whites that were filmed on some real locations or where we got to see not just the acting attire, but how people really dressed and handled money and how they behaved as well as where they went. A lot of things in lot of those older movies were actually how things really happened and showed the types of places where people in the early days visited. Those types of locations that I've seen in older movies have rewarded me in my detecting efforts even going back to the early '70s.
Even though some of the early movies where a little corny at times, many of them were very good movies. Sometimes, good stuff is on TV like tonight. *** I had to step in and edit my post darn it. I mentioned the movie coming on tonight and as I checked the program listing it's not the good Red River it's a newer version that I don't care for because I don't like James Arness at least in this movie. So, to see a good movie, I'll go over to my movie rack and movie shows and pick out something to enjoy. And it won't be modern.
Yes the better movies remind me of the good videos that I see that have been done by Garrett Electronics or Nokta / Makro or Minelab. So many of the more modern movies I just don't care for, that includes the actors and the quality of the movie. They remind me more of those nutty White's videos like when they were introducing the MX Sport. You know, the low-quality, terrible budget, poor acting and useless videos.
