OK Rich, on a few I will agree.

My favorite Western is still True Grit with John Wayne, Glen Campbell and Kim Darby, Robert Duvall, and more.
I have both the old True Grit and newer True Grit and, except for the girl's part in the newer version, I much prefer the 'original' John Wayne True Grit.

The Cowboys,
I have a pretty good selection of Jhn Wayne westerns plus one or two very good non-westerns he was in.

Paint Your Wagon.
They filmed that movie when I was in high school. Had a few friends who were 'extras' in that movie.

A few newer Westerns, Pale Rider with Clint Eastwood, 3:10 to Yuma
I have Pale Rider and watched it Tuesday evening. I happened to watch 3:10 to Yuma the other night. It was the good 1957 version with Glen Ford. I've never watched the newer one other than the short clips that I didn't care for.

Silverado with an all star cast, . The Magnificent Seven. could go on. what's this about no good recent movies? Everybody has different tastes, I would typically see 1 movie a week. Some I looked forward to the openings, other times, it was hard to find a good one.
I haven't seen either of those. I used to enjoy movies, mostly westerns, at the Saturday Matinee in Ogden and elsewhere for 25¢, or I paid 50¢ in 1969 in San Antonio Tx. Good older movies.thumbs up

How about the mission impossible series? Or the latest James Bond shows with Daniel Craig? Gran Torino is a great show. No? Lord of the Rings? Dragons, treasure, dwarves, wizards. Gladiator? Wonder Woman? Don't tell me you didn't see Wonder Woman. Pirates of the Caribbean? No? Lots of treasure in that one. Castaway? You'd love that one, airplane crashes in the ocean. How about National Treasure? The epic treasure hunt. Come on here. Star Wars? Rogue One? Star Trek? Bridge of Spies? True story there.

Maybe need a good laugh, how about Shrek? He's everybody's favorite Ogre. Dunkirk, Hacksaw Ridge, Enemy at the Gate, and Fury, Band Of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan, all about WWII. If you've missed all of those at least see Saving Private Ryan.

There are so many amazing stories out there.

Rich
I did watch a couple of the Wonder Woman series in the latter '70s, but never the movie. I did watch Castaway, once, but I wouldn't care to again. I do have both of the National Treasure movies, but I've never watched a James Bond movie, or Star Trek or Pirates of the Caribbean. I did watch the original Star Wars and part of the 2nd movie, but never heard of Rogue One, Bridge of Spies, ....

I did watch Saving Private Ryan, once when it came out, and bought to movie and watched it one more time, but never Hacksaw Ridge, Band of Brothers, or any of the others you mentioned.

There's something about a lot of the newer movies that just doesn't set right with me, and / or I might not care for some of the key role players. There was something about many of those early-day stars that seemed to click with me, and watching a lot of their movies during the first half of my life just seemed to hang in there ever since.

While I am sure there might be a few okay movies in more recent years, very few of them seemed to be very likable to me. Often it only took a short clip for me to decide I wasn't interested.

Maybe my age is showing, or just my distaste for some things 'modern' so I'll just enjoy my set of favorites. Supposed to be 103° today so I think my afternoon will be enjoying the AC with Randolph Scott and Nancy Gates.
