Big shout out to Oregon Gregg who shared the weekend at a private ghost town permission he had this weekend. Had the pleasure of over nighting at the site and spending some quality hours detecting.
The finds were hard earned and not as frequent as we are accustom to in Nevada, but we did get a few relics, and i managed two nice coins. Started Saturday with an 1858 seated quarter, and then an hour later i unearthed a coin i wasn't sure I'd ever find on the left coast...a large cent dated 1847. After that, i was thrilled, and didn't need to find more. Funny that at the top of my list were a large cent and a seated half, and this rang up just like both. I knew something good was likely going to be unearthed, but my bet was on the half. It was a pleasant surprise!
Was swinging the V3i with the 9 inch spider coil in large, open fields with mininal junk or iron debris.
Gregg was a great sport and it was a memorable weekend. Thx bud!
