The key date Buffalo, Unanticipated big silver first, an IHC, some more silver, and a big faux gold ring

Well, some days just go your way. I woke up at 6, so headed out to an old park to beat the brush. Got there early and had the place to myself...and no smoke from the fires!! Took the MX Sport because I couldn't trust the weather. Used the 6" concentric today and ran coin/jewelry with a 7 gain and iron off. Made for a quiet day. Plenty of ivy to fight, but it paid off.

Started with a Buffalo. Didn't know til i got home that it was a 1913s type 2 - the most sought after date. Too bad it was roached as it clearly had good detail and would have been a $500+ coin.

Next picked up a couple of wheats over time and a silver decoration of some type. Then i picked up a really big token from the Lotus Cafe Buffet - assuming it was good for a free buffet....likely circa 1930s or 40s. Had been in the ground a long time. Only rung up mid 70's, so i knew it wasn't a silver dollar or $20 gold piece when i cut the plug. Didn't know what it was til i was home as it was caked.

Headed back to re-cover an area i had hurried through, and picked up an 1889 IHC. Soon after, the "heads i win, tails you lose" token. 10 mins later i get that high 80's repeatable signal, and was assuming another screw cap to add to the 100 i dug already. Was i wrong....a 1951s Franklin about 4-5" down. These had eluded me for a long time. Was on my short list of things i hadn't found. Came out in beautiful shape.

Wheats were 16s, 17, 19s.

That honking gold ring with Onyx came as a surprise low 60's signal, which i thought was too high for gold...but it was BIG. After some cleaning, it clearly is marked 18kt, but it only plated. Maybe next time it's be a 12g real deal!!

Anyway, great way to spend a nice end of summer day. Smoke and COVID free:-)

It's out there....you just have to work for it.
