Fun day with some sunshine back in western Oregon. Hit an old park at daylight. Decided today i could use the bigger 10" coil on my V3i as the area i was going to hunt was relatively free of ground debris and brush.
Did get a couple of wheat pennies with the oldest a 25s, but the cool items today were 1900 to 1930 relics. The small siver tube is part of a ladies makeup set znf this was a tiny lipstick holder from maker Richard Hugnut from the 20s or 30s.
The fantastic find of the day is a penny sized locket that may have been for hair. It was that shiny coming out of the old dirt where i have pulled teens and 20s wheat. While not marked and with the loop missing, it stood up to 18k acid, but not 22k. The verdigris on the inside is from the insert frame that holds the glass. Nice shiny gold adjacent to it on the frame. Interesting that this had a hole on the middle of the silver inlay star to peer into the locket. Back of the inside has a nice scallop. 4g total. Pictures dont really do it justice.
May not have found old silver, but i think I'm happier with this unique piece. May remove the old glass, have it repaired and gift it to my daughter.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend,
Zincoln
