Pull in the main entrance
(closed on Wednesdays, or it used to be) on the east side. Do not turn to the right ans got to the cinder cone or restroom area. Stay left. Drive just past the Tennis Court area. Pull off the road and walk down-hill to a pathway that runs parallel with the road and tennis court. Slowly and-methodically, Stay just off the up-slope and work along the hillside, towards the road, and follow the pathway, maintaining a uniform distance off the road, following the old partway. But work the grassy, weedy area from the road's edge down to the pathway.
Stay no more than about 40' or so down-slope from the road, and work that pathway, remembering to be patient and overlap, for a distance of about 50' or so along the old pathway. Then, turn around and work it back-and-forth. Hunt for at least 2 hours, and I wouldn't be surpassed if you snagged a:
