It's hard to know with certainty. Had a 20's house on it for clergy later in life and was adjacent to a 1920's church. I find quite a few 1900-1910 spent cartridges, and even found a rimfire .44 yesterday which could take us back into the 1800's. It was in the middle of old town, so guessing it was once a park. Old maps show university property, but not aware that there was ever any university activity on site. I've not been able to ID the location of the old Gaston club, but have found about half a dozen 5c maverick tokens on the site, so it may well have been here. Suffice to say it's a bit of a quandary, but saw old use as i've pulled 5 IHPs, the oldest 1864. Very little silver though, as it may have been picked for high tones. Think i've removed at least a 5G bucket of old iron which continues to unmask an old penny here and there.
