Here's the current 'best guess' from NOAA:

Wednesday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers after midnight. Patchy smoke. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59. Calm wind becoming northwest 5 to 7 mph after midnight.

Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Patchy smoke. Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 92. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming light and variable.

Thursday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Patchy smoke. Partly cloudy, with a low around 59. Northwest wind 6 to 9 mph.

Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon. Patchy smoke. Partly sunny, with a high near 88.

Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Patchy smoke. Partly cloudy, with a low around 54.

Saturday: Patchy smoke. Sunny, with a high near 88.

I know it says 'chance' of showers and thunderstorms and the percentage is on the low side, but it does increase on Friday and Friday night. Early morning Saturday looks to be the better opportunity to not get dripped on and that's what I'm shooting for.

Time to fire-up some detectors that have been a bit idle due to the high summer heat we've had .... and which will be returning by this time next week. These old townsites are kind of midway between Baker City and Vale Oregon and if any reader would like to come and join the party, just let me know.
