I used to keep a sharp ye open for potential areas around water treatment plants and other water-related structures that are often fenced around. Also near water weirs and spillways, and places in your general area such as the concrete canals that run on the bench area of the Wasatch Front.

Quite often, especially in earlier times, people (most often youth) were drawn to those places to hide, play, hang out, neck, goof off, you name it they often had some activity around or near them. Hobos or bums, now usually referred to as homeless transients, often found shelter there in their travels (something they don't do today, instead hanging around, doing nothing, and leaching off society), and my searches used to turn up coins from their era of use and pocket knives (a tool most male kids carried from about age 5 to 8 on through the rest of their life) that helped make a sandwich, cut things that needed to cut as a useful tool, not really for evil or protection purposes.

Your thought wasn't really a bad idea because such locations had old-use activity and can, at time, be rewarding.

Thanks for the reply, and no, I don't want to inquire just where the site is.
